EDUKASI REMAS (REMAJA OBESITAS) SEBAGAI UPAYA DINI DALAM PENCEGAHAN OBESITAS

Abstract


Konsumsi makanan cepat saji atau fast food dapat memicu peningkatan konsumsi makanan tinggi kalori, garam, dan gula bagi tubuh. Konsumsi makanan tinggi kalori dan tinggi garam tersebut dapat mengakibatkan kelebihan berat badan dan obesitas pada remaja. Berdasarkan pengukuran status gizi, sebanyak 76,5% remaja di Pondok Pesantren Kebon Pring Kabupaten Cirebon memiliki status gizi kurang atau underweight. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk menilai apakah terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan remaja setelah diberikan edukasi gizi sebagai upaya dalam pencegahan obesitas. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah dan focus group discussion (FGD) ini menunjukkan, bahwa terdapat peningkatan pengetahuan remaja mengenai makanan cepat saji dan obesitas sebesar 16,5%. Hal ini disimpulkan, bahwa edukasi gizi melalui metode ceramah dan FGD dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan remaja dalam pencegahan obesitas.
