AbstractKonflik Laut China Selatan semakin memanas dari tahun ke tahun. Konflik ini pada awalnya tidak melibatkan Indonesia, namun di beberapa tahun terakhir, agresivitas Tiongkok semakin serius terutama ketika negara ini terbukti mengganggu kedaulatan Indonesia di Laut Natuna Utara. Dengan adanya ancaman ini, instrumen diplomasi Indonesia telah dikerahkan dan nyatanya banyak terjadi kegagalan: Tiongkok tetap menunjukkan tindakan asertifnya di wilayah ini. Untuk mengefektifkan proses diplomasi dan lobi Indonesia terhadap konflik Laut China Selatan, penelitian ini berargumen bahwa Indonesia sudah seharusnya mengaplikasikan kekuatan ekonominya (economic power). Seperti yang diketahui, kekuatan ekonomi sebuah bangsa mampu mempengaruhi kebijakan luar negeri negara lain, karena ini bersifat koersif dan persuasif.
