AbstractDi tahun 2014, Ebola menjadi epidemi yang menjadi fokus perhatian dunia, setelah korban meninggal mulai berjatuhan terus meningkat di Afrika Barat. Semakin meningkatnya jumlah kasus infeksi dan jumlah penderita yang meninggal ini, telah mengundang perhatian pihak internasional, termasuk negara-negara Eropa dan Asia Tenggara. Kedua kawasan tersebut memiliki pendekatan dan respon yang berbeda dalam menghadapi epidemi tersebut. Penelitian ini berupaya menjelaskan perbedaan respon antara Uni Eropa dan ASEAN sebagai organisasi regional dalam menghadapi tantangan kesehatan global. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode komparasi dalam menjelaskan respon kedua organisasi regional. Dalam hal ini, Uni Eropa berkoordinasi dengan WHO dan NGOs berupaya membantu menangani penyebaran ebola, melalui bantuan dana, penelitian, pengembangan vaksin serta mendukung sistem kesehatan nasional negara terdampak. Berbeda dengan Uni Eropa, ASEAN berupaya mengatasi penyebaran dengan memberikan bantuan investasi sistem kesehatan yang tangguh, serta pengiriman tenaga medis di negara terdampak. Di sisi lain, penyebaran penyakit ebola juga menjadi pelajaran berharga bagi kedua organisasi regional tersebut, agar meningkatkan sistem dan mekanisme regional dalam menanggapi ancaman kesehatan global.
