AbstractRivers play an important role in supporting community life and environmental sustainability; however, the river environment in Watumelomba Village faced cleanliness problems due to the presence of waste around the riverbanks and water flow. This condition encouraged the implementation of a community service activity through collaboration between students participating in the Community Service Program of Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka and the local community of Watumelomba Village. The activity aimed to increase community awareness, participation, and responsibility in maintaining river cleanliness as part of environmental preservation efforts. The initial stage involved field observations conducted from July 20 to 22, 2026, to identify river conditions and existing cleanliness problems. The river clean-up activity was subsequently carried out on August 10, 2026, using a participatory approach involving coordination, environmental awareness activities, community cooperation, waste collection, waste sorting, and activity evaluation. The target participants were members of the Watumelomba Village community living and conducting activities around the river environment. The results showed active participation from both students and community members in cleaning the river area and creating a cleaner environment compared with the condition before the activity. The activity also strengthened collective awareness and mutual cooperation, demonstrating the value of collaboration in supporting sustainable community-based environmental preservation.
