AbstractMenggunakan foreign policy analysis theory dan metode eksplanatif, tulisan ini menjelaskan mengenai alasan Tiongkok melakukan kerjasama dengan Thailand, dalam proyek kereta cepat rute Bangkok-Nakhonrachasima sebagai fase I dari keseluruhan rute Thailand-Laos dalam proyek besar Belt and Road Initiative. Terdapat empat faktor utama Tiongkok melakukan kerjasama, pertama, posisi geofrafi Thailand sebagai titik temu dari skema rute kereta Pan Asia Railway. Kedua, jumlah dan potensi populasi kelas menengah atas di Thailand di kedua kota, sebagai konsumen kereta cepat dan tingkt kunjungan sektor pariwisata. Ketiga, kapasitas dan proyeksi ekonomi Thailand yang terus meningkat setiap tahunnya. Keempat, stabilitas politik dan keamanan dalam negeri Thailand, bagi potensi serta jaminan investasi jangka panjang di Thailand. Proyek kereta cepat Tiongkok direncanakan akan menghubungkan, provinsi Kumning di Tiongkok, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, hingga Singapura, .
