AbstractKemiskinan adalah masalah klasik dan banyak orang, organisasi atau negara berusaha untuk mengatasi kemiskinan tetapi kemiskinan tidak pernah berakhir dan masih menjadi kenyataan dunia. Di sisi lain, kemiskinan telah menyebabkan dan disebabkan oleh banyak aspek kehidupan. Oleh karena itu perlu dikaji permasalahan ini agar dapat ditemukan cara-cara mengatasi kemiskinan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan makna tanggung jawab sosial berdasarkan Lukas 14:12-14 bahkan makna tanggung jawab sosial menurut teologi Lukas pada umumnya. Hasil kajian ini hendaknya memberikan sumbangan bagi Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT) dalam menghadapi persoalan kemiskinan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksegesis Lukas 14:12-14. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa keramahtamahan atau “hospitalitasâ€Â merupakan fokus teologi Lukas. Keramahtamahan atau penerimaan antara setiap anggota dalam persekutuan GMIT menjadi nilai penting dalam menghadapi realitas kemiskinan di Nusa Tenggara Timur.
