Pembentukan Persepsi Prospek Karier Profesi Petani sebagai Dasar Orientasi Karier Mahasiswa Pertanian: Studi Kualitatif dalam Perspektif Social Cognitive Career Theory

Abstract


Regenerasi SDM sektor petani menjadi salah satu tantangan utama pembangunan pertanian karena semakin rendahnya ketertarikan generasi muda untuk menjadikan profesi petani sebagai pilihan karier. Sebagian besar penelitian terdahulu lebih berfokus pada faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi rendahnya minat generasi muda terhadap sektor pertanian, sementara proses pembentukan persepsi terhadap prospek karier profesi petani masih relatif belum banyak dieksplorasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis proses pembentukan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap prospek karier profesi petani dalam perspektif Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif interpretatif dengan melibatkan 15 mahasiswa Program Studi Agroteknologi Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur dan dianalisis menggunakan Reflexive Thematic Analysis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi terhadap prospek karier profesi petani terbentuk melalui empat tahapan yang saling berkaitan, yaitu learning experiences, social interpretation, career outcome expectations, dan career orientation. Pengalaman belajar meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap sektor pertanian, namun tidak secara otomatis membentuk orientasi karier sebagai petani. Pengaruh keluarga, lingkungan sosial, media, dan pengalaman kontekstual membentuk interpretasi mahasiswa terhadap profesi petani yang selanjutnya berkembang menjadi ekspektasi mengenai pendapatan, peluang pengembangan karier, keamanan pekerjaan, prestise sosial, dan kualitas hidup. Ekspektasi tersebut menjadi dasar pembentukan orientasi karier, sehingga sebagian besar mahasiswa lebih memilih profesi di luar sektor pertanian. Penelitian ini mengusulkan Conceptual Process Model (CPM) sebagai representasi konseptual proses pembentukan persepsi terhadap prospek karier profesi petani.
