Abstract

This research examines the impact of using the Quizizz application on student motivation and learning outcomes. The study employed a mixed-method approach involving 30 management students taking English courses at a private university in Medan. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires adapted from the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) and academic tests to measure learning outcomes. The results showed that 93% of participants had intrinsic motivation, with 100% showing high interest and effort in using Quizizz. Meanwhile, 97% of participants demonstrated identified and integrated regulation in extrinsic motivation. Regarding learning outcomes, there was a significant improvement where the class average increased from 73.2 (pretest) to 79.8 (posttest). Five participants achieved perfect scores with different performances based on accuracy and speed of answering. This study concludes that Quizizz effectively improves student motivation and learning outcomes through an interactive and enjoyable learning approach. However, the effectiveness of Quizizz may vary depending on context and implementation, necessitating further research to explore variables that influence its success.
